What is Waxing?

Waxing is a hair removal process that involves using a covering made from sticky substances. Wax is the primary choice, and is applied to the skin. Once ready, the wax is quickly ripped off from the skin, with the idea being that the wax will also remove all of the hairs it has come in contact with. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, such as the eyebrows, face, bikini, legs, arms, back, abdomen, knuckles and feet.

Waxing is surprisingly effective at removing hair right down to the follicle, and prevents hair from growing back in the area for as long as four to six weeks. Some variation is to be expected, as everyone has a slightly different hair growth cycle, meaning that some people might start to see hair growth within a week's time in exceptional cases.

Before Treatment

Before coming in for your waxing appointment, there are some things you will need to do in advance:

  1. Exfoliate a day before your treatment
  2. Don't apply body lotion on the day of your appointment
  3. If you are getting an underarm treatment, use a deodorant without antiperspirant to ensure that hair comes off easier
  4. If you are worried about any pain involved, we recommend taking a painkiller before your appointment

After Treatment

For the next 24 hours following your treatment, avoid any and all hot treatments. This includes, for example, bathing, sauna, steam rooms, tanning, and others alike. Any excessive heat can cause unnecessary discomfort and irritation to the skin, along with other irregularities.
